Current SCAS Barbro Klein Fellow Mikiya Koyagi has been awarded the 2023 Japan
Consortium for Area Studies Toryu-sho (Budding Scholar) Book Award for his book
Iran in Motion: Mobility, Space, and the Trans-Iranian Railway
(Stanford University
Press, 2021).

Koyagi is a Fellow in residence at SCAS in the autumn term of 2023.

Former Pro Futura Scientia Fellow Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark has been appointed
Professor of Law at Åbo Akademi University.

Spiliopoulou Åkermark was admitted to the Pro Futura Programme in 1999. She was in
residence at the Collegium in the year 2002 and in the spring term of 2003.

Current SCAS Pro Futura Scientia Fellow H. Orri Stefánsson has been appointed
Wallenberg Academy Fellow 2023 by the Knut & Alice Wallenberg Foundation,
with a project titled “How Should We Make Decisions about Potential Catastrophes?”.

Stefánsson was admitted to the Pro Futura Scientia Programme in 2018. He was
in residence at the Collegium in the academic year 2020-21 and will be at SCAS
again during the spring term of 2024.
